A necklace worn under a collar in Texas heat is a necklace in contact with sweat for eight hours. Plated brass does not survive that — the plating wears at the friction points, the copper underneath oxidises, and the skin underneath goes green.

Yes. All eleven carry a waterproof rating for shower, chlorine pool, ocean and sweat. Rinse with fresh water afterwards and dry it — residue left sitting on a chain, rather than the water itself, is what shortens the life of any finish.

No. That happens when copper in brass oxidises against skin after the plating wears through. These are finished over 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, which contains no copper. The finish fades with time rather than reacting.

Both are stocked in both finishes, and the choice is usually about what else you wear rather than the pendant. Gold reads warmer against denim; silver sits better with a silver belt buckle or a watch.

Nickel is the usual cause of a reaction and 316L surgical-grade stainless steel is designed without it. All eleven state that material. Four are additionally made to ASTM F2923-20, the US children's jewelry standard, which sets a limit on nickel release.
