The strongest pairs here are the ones people already buy together. The ready-made sets

Eleven products are complete sets rather than halves:

Six three-piece stacks at $88 — Best Sellers, Girly Girl, Love Light & Faith, Silver Lining, Sparkle Shine and Sunday Best. Each combines a huggie and two screw back studs, chosen to be worn at once rather than alternated. The Girly Girl stack, for instance, pairs the Celine huggie with a removable CZ drop against the Millie bow and Tally studs.

Five stud trios, $18 to $24 — Americana, Lollipop and Triple Scoop at $18, Spring and Winter at $24. Three studs to a card, for a second and third piercing or for sharing. These are the one thing here made of acetate as well as 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, and they are push backs rather than screw backs. Acetate does not belong in water, so take these off for the shower, the pool and the ocean.

Why steel matters more on a set

A set is bought to be worn as a set, which usually means worn constantly. That is only comfortable if the pieces survive a shower, a pool and a night's sleep, and sixty-four of the seventy-five do: 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, rated waterproof, easy on sensitive ears. The other eleven are the six $88 stacks, which are the same steel but not rated for water, and the five acetate stud trios, which should stay dry.

All twenty-nine screw back studs use the same screw back mechanism as the rest of the range — so the earring half of your set does not go missing in week two. The five stud trios are the exception: those push on.
